Carpet cleaning in Stewart Manor: what to know
Stewart Manor covers only about a fifth of a square mile, wedged between Floral Park, New Hyde Park, Franklin Square and Garden City. It was laid out by Realty Associates starting in 1925, first as Sunrise Gardens, and incorporated in 1927. The Stewart Manor LIRR station on the Hempstead Branch gave the village its name.
The houses are close together on small lots, with a lot of Capes and older homes. That means tight stairs, carpeted dormer rooms and well-used dens. The drive from our Deer Park base is about 35 minutes.
Stewart Manor houses: 1920s Capes, Colonials and brick homes
Most of Stewart Manor went up soon after development began in 1925, and the median home dates to about 1928. Capes are the most common house, along with expanded Capes, Colonials, some Victorian-style homes and brick houses on tree-lined streets like Salisbury Avenue. Lots are small, with a median of about 4,800 square feet. In older Capes, carpet usually covers the upstairs dormer bedrooms and the narrow stairs, while the main floor has hardwood with area rugs. Basements are often finished as a den or playroom with carpet over concrete. Expanded Capes add a carpeted second floor. Homes are mostly owner-occupied, with a few rentals near Covert Avenue.
Parts of Stewart Manor we cover
We work in every part of the village, ZIP 11530: the Covert Avenue strip, the blocks around the LIRR station and Cambridge Avenue, Salisbury and Tulip Avenues, and Fernwood Terrace on the Garden City side. Nearby addresses that carry New Hyde Park or Garden City mail are covered too. From Deer Park we take the Southern State Parkway west and come up through Franklin Square on Covert Avenue, about 35 minutes.
Carpet problems Stewart Manor homes run into
Steep 1920s staircases
Older Capes and Colonials have narrow, steep stairs, and carpet wears first on each step's nose and center. Dirt packs into the bend where the carpet wraps the tread. We clean stairs by hand with a stair tool, pre-treat the worn path and rinse so no residue is left to pull in new dirt. Stairs are priced on the walk-through.
Hardwood with area rugs
Main floors in Stewart Manor are usually hardwood with a rug in the living and dining rooms. A rug needs a gentler process than wall-to-wall carpet. We check fiber and dye first and keep moisture under control so the wood underneath stays dry. Wool rugs get lower heat and a wool-safe rinse, and fringe is cleaned by hand.
Musty basement carpet
In houses from the 1920s, a basement finished later often has carpet laid right on the slab. On humid days old spills and pet spots start to smell. We use strong extraction so the pad does not stay soaked, enzyme treatment for pet areas, and suggest a dehumidifier while the carpet dries in about 4 to 8 hours.
Small rooms, heavy furniture
Rooms on small lots are tight, and furniture is often pushed against every wall. Carpet under and behind those pieces holds dust for years. We move light pieces to reach more carpet, work around the heavy ones, and set protective tabs under legs as we put things back so nothing stains the damp pile.

Carpet cleaning in Stewart Manor: questions
My Stewart Manor house has a Garden City mailing address. Is that okay?
Yes. Some streets in and around Stewart Manor carry Garden City or New Hyde Park addresses, and Fernwood Terrace is split among school districts. That does not change anything for us. Send us the house number and street, and the visit goes on the calendar like any other in the village.
Can you clean carpet on narrow Cape stairs?
Yes. Stairs are cleaned by hand with a stair tool, not the big wand, so each tread and riser gets attention. We pre-treat the center path where the wear shows and rinse well. Stairs are priced on the walk-through, and in Stewart Manor, as everywhere, the price is set before any work starts.
Do you do evening appointments in Stewart Manor?
We are open 24 hours, 7 days, so evening and weekend slots are possible after the commute home on the LIRR. A next-day visit is what most Stewart Manor bookings get, and same-day can often be arranged. Booking online takes $20 off the job.
How much does carpet cleaning cost in Stewart Manor?
Carpet cleaning starts at $119 for one room of any size. Stairs, hallways, pet treatment and protector are priced on the walk-through, and you approve the price before we start. Booking online takes $20 off.
How long does carpet take to dry?
Usually 4 to 8 hours, depending on the carpet, humidity and airflow. Running the AC or a fan speeds it up. You can walk on it in socks right away.
