Why pet odor keeps coming back
Urine soaks through the carpet into the backing and pad. When it dries, it leaves salts that release odor again every time the air gets humid, which on Long Island is half the year. Surface cleaners and shampoos mask the smell for a few days but don't remove those salts.
We find the spots with a moisture meter and UV light, including ones you can't see, then treat them directly.
Our pet odor treatment
Each spot gets an enzyme treatment that breaks down the urine salts, given time to work, and then hot water extraction to flush it out of the carpet and as much of the pad as possible. For heavy damage we can use a sub-surface extraction tool that pulls from the pad itself.
If urine has soaked through many times, the pad under that spot may need to be replaced. We tell you honestly, and a pad patch is often cheaper than repeated cleanings.
Rugs and furniture
Area rugs with urine are best picked up and washed off-site, where the whole foundation can be flushed. Sofas and chairs get the same enzyme treatment in your home.

Pet stain and odor removal questions
Can you really get dog or cat urine smell out of carpet?
In most homes, yes. Enzyme treatment plus extraction removes the salts that cause the smell. If the pad is saturated from years of accidents, replacing that section of pad may be needed.
Why does the smell come back when it's humid?
Dried urine salts in the backing and pad absorb moisture from the air and release odor again. Removing the salts, not masking them, is the only real fix.
Is the enzyme safe for my pets?
Yes. Once dry, the treatment is safe for pets and children.
Can urine stains be removed completely?
The odor usually can. Some old urine permanently changes carpet dye, leaving a light or yellow spot even after the urine is gone. We point those out first.
How much does pet odor removal cost?
It's added to a carpet, rug or upholstery clean and priced by the number and size of affected areas. You get the price before we start.
