Why couches get dirty fast

A couch that gets used every day collects body oil on the arms and headrests, food and drink spills in the seat cushions, and pet hair and dander in the seams. Over time the fabric darkens and starts to smell, even if it looks fine from across the room.

A deep couch cleaning every 12 months keeps the fabric from wearing out early. Homes with pets or kids often book every 6 months.

How we clean a couch

We check the fabric tag and test a hidden spot, vacuum the crevices and under the cushions, and pre-treat the arms, headrests, seat fronts and any stains. Then we clean the entire couch with low-moisture steam or a dry solvent, depending on the fabric, and groom the nap so it dries even.

Sectionals are cleaned piece by piece so every section matches. Most couches are dry in 2 to 6 hours.

Common couch stains we remove

Coffee, wine, juice, grease, ink, makeup, pet accidents and sweat stains are the most common. Fresh spills are the easiest, so blot (don't rub) and call. Ink and old dye stains can often be lightened but not always fully removed, and we tell you that before we start.

Yes. Most microfiber is cleaned with a solvent and brushed so it doesn't water-spot.

Will cleaning remove pet smell from my couch?

Usually. We use an enzyme treatment on the affected areas. Very old urine that soaked into the foam may not come out completely, and we'll tell you first.

Do you clean the cushion covers separately?

We clean covers on the cushions. Machine-washing them can shrink them and ruin the fit.
